What is Keto Diet?

“A keto diet is well known for being a low carb diet, where the body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. It’s referred to as many different names – ketogenic diet, low carb diet, low carb high fat (LCHF), etc. When you eat something high in carbs, your body will produce glucose and insulin.” The purpose is to train your body to use the fat as fuel and to keep your glycemic index “GI” from spiking. These spikes force your body to store fats.

Who should do Keto diet?

We often listen to celebrities and like to think we are one of them when we decide on the clothes to wear, cars to drive, etc, etc, if you’re that type of person, here’s a list of some Keto celebs. I guess most notably and open about it is LeBron James, this is him talking about his diet. Now personally I could care less what any celebrity does unless I’m paying to see it either in sport oron the big screen. So whether King James is Keto or eats his shoes makes no difference to me. So the Who the f*** is me and so many others as a newish lifestyle movement.

Why should I choose the Keto Diet?

Depends on what the most important thing to you is. In my case, I worry a lot about my liver. As chronicled in this blog, I spent much of my life-damaging my liver pretty bad. This puts me at high risk for a metabolic disease which includes fatty liver disease. The great thing about your liveris much like Dr. Ian Malcolm told us in Jurassic Park, “life, uh, finds away.” The liver tries to find a way by repairing itself, the Keto diet has shown in studies to help the liver find it’s the way. Also discussed has been the reason I started my new lifestyle, which was being put on blood pressure medication. Turns out high BP can be helped by a Keto lifestyle.
