No, No the word doesn’t stand for “Genetically Modified”. The same words propped up in my mind when I heard of it, but I was wrong. GM stands for General Motors. For all those who have heard this for the first time would be as astonished as I was. The same automobile company that manufactures luxury cars has designed a diet plan – General Motors diet plan to help people lose weight. It was made to help GM employees lose weight and gain good health in their days of decline. It promises a no-nonsense diet plan that helps people lose as much as 7 to 8 kgs in a single week.

Day 1: Fruit Day

Recommended Menu

Breakfast: 2 apples or 1/2 papaya and 1-2 glasses of water
Mid-Morning snack: 1 bowl of melon and 1-2 glasses of water
Lunch: 1 bowl of watermelon or muskmelon and 1-2 glasses of water
Mid-afternoon snack: 1 bowl raw papaya and 1-2 glasses of water
Evening snack: 1 glass coconut water
Dinner: 1 bowl of cantaloupe and 2 glasses of water

On the first day of the GM diet plan, you must eat only fruits. Watermelon and cantaloupe are the best fruits to be consumed. Do not eat bananas. Though it is the most difficult day but you must keep your motivation going as there is nothing better than this.

 

Day 2: Veggie day

Breakfast: 1 cup boiled/baked potato and 2 glasses of water
Mid-Morning snack: 1 bowl of cabbage or red lettuce salad and 1-2 glasses of water
Lunch: 1 cup spinach, 1 cup asparagus, 1/2 eggplant and 2 glasses of water
Mid-afternoon snack: boiled broccoli
Evening snack: 1 cup wheat grass
Dinner: Boiled broccoli, cauliflower and asparagus with salt and 2 glasses of water

On the second day of the GM diet plan , you are required to eat only vegetables. The only choice provided is that you can either eat them raw or boiled. Start your day with a baked potato and a tablespoon of butter to lend your body carbs for the whole day to maintain energy and balance but keep oil out of your sight. Maintain hydration in the body.

 

Day 3: Fruggie Day

Dinner: 1 bowl of boiled broccoli, fresh greens and raw papaya and 2 glasses of water

The term “Fruggie” denotes fruits and vegetables. You can eat all fruits and vegetables except bananas and potatoes. There is no restriction on the amount to be eaten. You can eat vegetables either raw or boiled on the third day of the GM diet plan.

 

Day 4: Milk + bananas

Breakfast: 1 banana, 1 glass skim milk and 2 glasses of water
Mid-Morning snack: 2 bananas, 2 glasses skim milk, 2 glasses of water
Lunch: 1 banana, 1 glass skim milk and 2 glasses of water
Mid-afternoon snack: 1 bowl soup
Evening snack: 1 banana, 1 glass skim milk and 2 glasses of water
Dinner: 1 banana, 1 glass skim milk and 2 glasses of water

As many as 8 bananas and 3 glasses of milk should be taken on the fourth day of the weekly diet plan. A soup can be taken in the evening or at any time to control hunger pangs.

 

Day 5: Feast Day 1

Recommended Menu

Breakfast: 1/2 cup of mango and 1 cup of cherry tomatoes or grilled beef slices
Lunch: Beef burger or 1 cup of rice and 3 grilled tomatoes
Dinner: Beef burger or vegetable salad with tomatoes

After following GM diet plan strictly for 4 days, you can enjoy a variety of foods today. The variety in the food of the day 5 can awaken your taste buds. You must drink enough water to drain the excessive amount of uric acid being produced by your body. Avoid white meat.

 

Day 6: Feast day 2

Recommended Menu 

Breakfast: 1 bowl of vegetable soup with beef cutlets or brown rice
Mid-Morning snack: 1 bowl of mixed vegetables
Lunch: A bowl of beef and broccoli
Mid-afternoon snack: Beef slices or 1 cup of brown rice with grilled tomatoes
Evening snack: Beef kebab or vegetable soup
Dinner: 1 serving of vegetable soup

GM diet plan allows you to feast on rice again today along with cooked or uncooked vegetables. The non vegetarians can eat lean meat or beef. Again, avoid white meat.

 

Day 7: Last day

Breakfast: 1 bowl brown rice or 1 bowl of unsweetened oatmeal
Mid-Morning snack: 1 cup raisins
Lunch: A bowl of brown rice with cooked vegetables, broccoli and asparagus.
Mid-afternoon snack: 1 bowl diced apple
Evening snack: 1 bowl strawberries
Dinner: 1 bowl of vegetables and lemon rice

The last day of the weekly diet plan calls for a healthy ending to all the efforts you have put in all the previous days. You can eat brown rice with vegetables to your hearts content. You can eat white meat today. Drink fruit juices but do not forget water intake. Drink enough water to shed the desired amount of weight.
